Motivation: You use Vimeo OTT as your main billing platform. Paying customers get access to some combination of live/recorded video(s). You'd like to offer audio to paying customers.
With this integration, you can leave Vimeo as your one main billing platform. Awesound will handle secure audio access.
Step 1 of 3: Set up webhooks
A "webhook" is an automatic message sent from your website to Awesound, when a certain action occurs on your Vimeo OTT platform. Setting up webhooks allows Awesound to be automatically notified of events, like a new customer sign-up to a relevant product.
Click "+" to add a new Webhook URL endpoint
Paste the following URL:
Do not click "Send test". Instead, simply click "Save" in the top-right corner.
Step 2 of 3: Create API key
An API key is a way to give Awesound access to proactively query certain information from Vimeo.
For example, if a listener attempts to listen to a particular product, Awesound can ask Vimeo, in real-time, if the listener currently has access to this product / subscription.
- Go to https://vhx.tv/admin/platforms and scroll down to the bottom
- In the "API keys" section, click "Create key"
- Give the key a name like "Awesound" and click Create.
- Copy the key (it should look something like
W1xzL7Yx4b89jXQ1abcdefghWuRwv-q) and paste into your settings page on Awesound.
Step 3: Run some tests
It's always a good idea to run some test purchases / test subscriptions before launching to your customers. Email team@awesound.com when you're ready to run some tests.
