See granular data in your own Google Analytics account
Â
In order to see listener data in your Google account, you must first add your Google Analytics ID to your Awesound account: email team@awesound.com for help
Link your Google Analytics account with Awesound
- Visit http://analytics.google.com/ (If you have more than one Google account, make sure you're signed in with the correct Google account you want to use with Awesound.)
Customise the data you see in Google Analytics
Click "Admin" (bottom option in left sidebar) then click "Custom Definitions"
You will add "Dimensions" for word-based data and "Metrics" for number-based data.
Start by clicking "Custom Dimensions".
Add the following six "custom dimensions", in the following order:
- currentURL (scope: Hit)
- publisher (scope: Hit)
- listenerID (scope: User)
- listenerName (scope: User)
- trackUID (scope: Hit)
- trackTitle (scope: Hit)
- playlistUID (scope: Hit)
- playlistName (scope: Hit)
When you are done, you should see the following:
NB: The "Index" numbers and "Scope" must EXACTLY match as in the screenshot above (e.g., playlistUID must be Index number 7).
Â
Now go to Custom Metrics.
Â
Add the following "custom metrics", in this order:
- percentThrough
- thisPlayTimeSpent
Note: Index and Scope for each metric/dimension must exactly match the screenshots shown above
Â
You should set up all the above recommended Custom Dimensions, but please note that information will not always be sent for each Custom Dimension. How much information is recorded depends on several factors, including on your settings, the listener's own privacy settings and their account (region, activity, etc.).
For example, some events have no "track" associated them; some users will be logged out; etc.
Â
You can then view some interesting reports:

We will use feedback from listeners and publishers to improve our Google Analytics integration, and will update this guide in future when we make changes. Such changes may mean that data is represented differently, or that less data is available to share with your Google Analytics account. We will do our best to maintain back-ward compatibility with this guide, but make no guarantee that this will be possible.
If you have feedback or feature requests to help you better use Google Analytics, please email team@awesound.com
